Winter’s cold dry air can really take its toll on our nails. Moving between indoor, heated spaces and the cold outdoor air can dehydrate nails, leaving them vulnerable to splitting, chipping and breaking. Be mindful of other factors too which can dry the nails further; hot showers, acetone polish removers, washing up liquid and even alcohol-based hand sanitisers.
To rehydrate, remember to moisturise right up to your fingertips every time you reach for your trusty hand cream and pay particular attention to the cuticles. Try using a cuticle oil at night too and an intensive treatment once a week. Both skin and nails benefit from Vitamins E, C, A, K and B complex when taken regularly, so ensure you keep up your intake over winter.
Maintaining this plan at home, along with regular visits to your nail salon, can help keep your nails looking strong, healthy and pretty right through winter
